Sermon Questions

1. Jim Hamilton describes John 19:5 as possibly “the greatest display of humility, patience, self-control, restraint, and nobility ever seen in human history.” What can we learn from beholding Christ, the perfect man, as he faces this vile provocation?

2. Pastor Mathis exhorted us, “Beware when frantic people demand you say certain things.” Where are you feeling pressure right now to speak, defend yourself, or respond? How do you discern when silence is wise and when it is cowardice?

3. 1 Peter 2:23 reminds us that Jesus “continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly,” as he endured unjust suffering. What is one situation or step you can take in entrusting yourself to him who judges justly?
