1. Augustine’s mother, Monica, was an important influence in his coming to faith. Who has been influential in your coming to Christ, and how did God use them in your story?

2. In Augustine’s life, the sinful, lesser things his heart pursued weren’t merely taken away — they were replaced by God himself, and God became his joy. Can you share an experience of finding joy in God from your own life?

3. Romans 13 exhorts us to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” What might obedience to this look like for you this week?
