Everyday Is Thanksgiving

Time and time again in God’s word there are examples and commands to give thanks to God for who he is and what he has done. With Thanksgiving coming soon this next week the exhortation this morning to us is let us be thankful to our God not just during Thanksgiving but also throughout the whole year. Here are some verses to help reorient us.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:15–17)

Let us be thankful for who God is and what he has done throughout the year because it give’s God glory and because it is good of our soul and may that thankfulness turn into praise and may the praise of God’s holy name be spread through us to others.
